Welcome

I am an artist and sculptor living in Kirk Langley near Ashbourne in Derbyshire, having moved from the South East in 2005. I originally studied life drawing and sculpture at Glasgow School of Art and continued to develop my portrait and figure sculpture skills at South Staffordshire College, Lichfield Campus.

My principal interest has always been figurative art. I find inspiration everywhere: angles, facial features, clothing and jewellery, age, ethnicity and attitude.

I use different clays, techniques and finishes when sculpting.

I also currently use mixed media and acrylic techniques to produce vibrant eye-catching images of coastal and urban landscapes. I take technical risks with these media to ensure my finished pictures retain freshness and originality.

I undertake occasional painting and sculpture portrait commissions and teach sculpture in my studio. Students' work includes portrait heads, figures and numerous dogs and horses.

My sculptures and paintings have been exhibited in numerous galleries, and private and public exhibitions including Derbyshire Open Arts, Melbourne Festival and Buxton Spa Prize. The galleries include:

St John's Street Gallery in Ashbourne
Emporium Art Gallery in Lichfield
Ingleby Gallery near Melbourne
Green Man Gallery in Buxton
The Fletcher Gate Art Gallery in Nottingham
Parndon Mill, Harlow
